It happened again this week. Someone said something sarcastic to me, and I, as usual, didn’t catch it. When they tried to tell me they were just being funny, I looked at them and said that I am literal about a lot of things and assume people mean what they say; that I have a different sense of humor. Kloofing Nuy River Gorge in South Africa

Following the second of a five-pitch descent, I made the mistake of being overconfident on flat land. I tripped and landed hard on a sharply-pointed rock. The pain was intense, but it was only when I sat up that I realized the extent of the damage and the true meaning of being between a rock and a hard place.
