When I went to the Mexican market the other day, I saw some for the first time. \u00a0I picked one up and nonchalantly tossed it into my cart to try later. \u00a0I looked up to see\u00a0an older couple watching me. \u00a0I winked and walked away.<\/p>\n
Moments later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. \u00a0It turns out that the couple wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into \u2013 apparently, they disagreed on whether sweet limes taste any good. \u00a0The fact is, they smell like Pledge furniture polish \u2013 in a good way, of course.<\/p>\n
They asked the produce guy to cut one up for me \u2013 something I\u2019ve only seen done at farmer\u2019s markets (not supermarkets) \u2013 and then watched eagerly as I chomped down on a wedge.<\/p>\n
They were delicious! \u00a0Not quite as sweet as an orange, and not as bitter as a lime. \u00a0I think they\u2019d make a great summer drink.<\/p>\n
And the couple, once they discovered that I speak Spanish, started talking about some of Mexico\u2019s regional delicacies. I learned a lot, made some new friends, and tried a great new fruit. All in all, a great afternoon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
